Plug-in coil electric burners are one of the easiest appliance repairs you can make. No tools required in most cases. The whole swap takes about two minutes per burner.
Never work on a warm burner. Turn everything off and let it cool completely.
Grab the burner by the outer ring, lift slightly, and pull straight out. Look at the socket for burn marks, corrosion, or melted plastic. Replace the socket if damaged before installing a new coil.
Line up the burner prongs with the socket and push straight in until flush. Replace the drip pan. Turn the knob to medium — the burner should glow evenly red with no flickering or cold spots.
